Manufactured in 1906. The top barrel flat ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address/patent date, the left rear at the breech is marked "38 W.C.F." and the Winchester oval proof is marked on the top barrel flat and front receiver ring at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1892 / WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK" and the serial number is on the bottom of the frame. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, blade front, adjustable buck horn rear sights, full magazine tube with 1893 patent date marked takedown lever and mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a steel end cap and steel crescent buttplate. The accompanying Cody letter verifies the serial number, takedown rifle configuration, caliber, octagon barrel, that it was received in the warehouse on October 23, 1908 and was shipped on September 8, 1909 to order number 223175.

Very fine. The barrel is a mix of 60% thinning original blue finish and smooth mottled brown patina with some scattered handling marks. The receiver retains 75% original blue finish thinning in areas and showing high edge wear with some scattered minor scratches. The case colors on the lever and hammer have been professionally redone with 98% bright colors remaining. The wood has been lightly sanded and re-oiled, and remains fine overall with only very minor pressure marks from storage. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
