Manufactured 1947 and subsequently custom embellished, this gallery rifle features floral scroll engraving on the receiver with a gold inlaid wire border around the edge and bordering a scene of two gold inlaid squirrels in a tree on the left side and three gold inlaid rabbits in a field scene on the right side. The top of the bolt and breech end of the barrel also have a small wedge of the scroll engraving and a gold inlaid band partially around the breech end of the barrel. The breech end top of the barrel and receiver are marked with the Winchester oval proof and the left rear of the barrel is marked with the two line address, Winchester trademark and "-MODEL 62A- / 22 SHORT-". The head of the takedown screw is engraved and a small wedge of light scroll is on the upper tang at the screw. Blade front and adjustable rear sporting sights, correct triangle cut in the magazine tube found only on the Gallery rifles and mounted with 3x fancy forearm and straight grip stock with fancy bordered checkering and checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. Complete with the original box numbered to the gun, waxed paper and cardboard sleeve for the stock. The spurious copied end label on the box is stamped "SPECIAL", "SELECT WOOD" and is handmarked "E-CARVing", "GOLD INLAID" and "#8 ENgRAVing", as well as the normal Model 62 markings. The rifle also retains a similar hanging tag, also stamped "SPECIAL" and "SELECT WOOD".

Near mint as custom made in the box. The rifle has never been assembled. The box is very good.
