Description:

This a rare example of a Winchester Model 2400 cutaway that was part of the Winchester Museum collection and formerly part of the Peter and Patty Murray collection. The shotgun has the standard left side barrel and receiver markings. Most of the right side of the action and sections of the barrel, forearm and magazine tube are cutaway with red paint, (except on the barrel), highlighting the areas. The shotgun is mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and pistol grip stock. As noted above, this shotgun is formerly from the Peter and Patty Murray collection and is accompanied by a copy of a Winchester letter naming this shotgun on a list (number 18) that were part of the Winchester Gun Museum collection at the factory in New Haven, Connecticut. The letter states that they were sold to Mr. Murray when the guns museum was moved to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, and that the guns were prototypes, one of a kind, experimental and sample models.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The shotgun retains 99% original blue finish with a few scattered minor dings and scratches on the receiver. The wood is also excellent with a few overall scattered minor dings and a small piece of cellophane tape on the forearm that appears to have been there for a while. The shotgun is functional and the mechanics are excellent.
