Manufactured from 1914 to 1921 in the 145500 to 237500 serial number range, these Model 1899 rifles were developed to introduce the Charles Newton designed .250-3000 Savage cartridge. Fitted with a 22" featherweight takedown barrel, unique checkered trigger, and pistol grip perch belly stock. Pinned blade front sight and removed rear sight (filler block added) on barrel with the two line address/patent date marking ahead of rear sight and two line hi-pressure steel/model marking and "250-3000 SAVAGE" on the left barrel side. Cocking indicator, Lyman tang peep sight, and polished bolt. Checkered Schnabel forearm and pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap and serrated steel buttplate stamped with the Savage Indian head logo. With a Brauer Brothers canvas rifle case and an unidentified canvas rifle case.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 80% original blue finish thinning to a gray with a smooth gray patina on the underside of the receiver. The lever retains 30% original case colors with the balance a mottled silver-gray. The stock is very good with numerous minor dings, scratches, and pressure marks with a small putty filled repair on the forearm (left side). There is a minor dent on the grip area, otherwise some very scattered minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. The cases are very good. Mechanically very good.
