Manufactured in 1939 with a rare special order 6" heavy barrel. Blade and frame groove sights, with checkered walnut Colt medallion grips. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates and "OFFICIAL / POLICE" flanked by "COLT" and ".38" above "HEAVY BARREL" flanked by maltese crosses is marked on the left side. The left side plate has a Rampant Colt. On the left side of the frame just above the trigger guard there is a Colt triangle proof and the letter "Y". The trigger, cylinder latch, and hammer spur are checkered. Complete with a original factory hinged maroon box, "Shooting Suggestions" pamphlet, test target, bore brush, and wax packing paper. The serial number is correctly hand marked in pencil on the underside, along with "HEAVY BARREL" stamped in red ink.

Excellent. The revolver retains over 98% original blue finish with some mild thinning on the grip straps, some very scattered minor handling marks, and a light cylinder drag line, with an area of minor pitting on the cylinder. There is a long shallow gouge on the right panel, otherwise the grips are very fine with a few minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering and a couple minor dings on the lower edges. The box is fine with some scattered wear and minor handling marks. The action is excellent.
