This is an very good example of a standard WWII production British Enfield No 4 MK 1 (T) sniper rifle that is complete with the scope, mount and wooden storage/transit case. These rifles were the standard British sniper rifle developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s, when they were replaced by the L42 series of sniper rifles. They were generally selected during production for conversion to the sniper configuration and then were shipped to Holland & Holland, who actually performed the conversion work. The left side of the receiver ring is marked with a "crown / BNP" proofmark. The left side of the wrist is marked "M47/ 1943/ AP9388/ Tripple Stamped England/TR". The rifle is fitted with the correct, No. 32 MkII scope that is marked on top of the tube "TEL. SIGHTING/. No. 32 Mk.II / O.S. 1650A/ 1943 No 8381". The mount is stamped "JC/GF" and the rings are numbered "197 and 198" on the rear and front, respectively. The rifle has the standard blade front sight and tangent military rear sight. It is fitted with the correct wartime smooth semi-pistol grip stock with correct wartime pot-metal buttplate with butt trap compartment and the correct screw on wooden cheekpiece. It has the correct full-length forestock, and top handguards. It is correctly proofmarked behind the trigger guard and underside of the forend and is correctly stamped "S51" directly behind the pistol grip area, indicating the conversion was performed by Holland and Holland. The rig is complete with the correct wartime green wooden storage/shipping container and one ten shot box magazine.

Excellent overall with 95% of the original arsenal black wartime painted finish on the rifle itself with wear on the edges and high spots overall from handling and light use. The buttstock, forestock and handguard are all in excellent condition overall and show minor handling marks, scratches and light nicks on the sides below the receiver area. The proofmarks are clear and distinct. The scope and mount retain 40% of their original wartime finish mostly in the protected areas with the front and rear sun shades showing an old repaint. The optics are clear with just a hint of haze inside and the windage and elevation knobs move freely. The rifle is all matching including the scope and mount. The wooden storage/transit case is in good condition overall with 85% of the original green painted on the exterior, with 90% of the label on the inside of the lid with clear outside markings. The case shows wear and paint loss on all the corners, with a larger crack or separation on one end. A very nice example of a early WWII British Enfield Sniper rifle.
