This is an example of a 1944 dated 98K sniper rifle that was manufactured by Mauser and features a hooded ramp blade front sight and tangent rear sight. It is equipped with a ZF41/1 telescopic sight with a "duv" and "eagle/214" proofmarked mount. The top of the receiver is marked with an "eagle/135" proof over the Mauser manufacturer code "byf" and the date "1944". The left side of the receiver has an eagle firing proof and the serial number and the right side has an "eagle/135" proof. There are scattered "eagle/135" proofs. Matching numbers on the receiver, bolt assembly, front barrel band, and floor plate. Stamped parts with varnished laminated stock and handguard with cupped buttplate. Stock has no visible markings. Complete with leather sling, cleaning rod, and front sight hood.

Very good. The rifle retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The wood has been lightly sanded with an old varnish remaining and some scattered minor dings with a small area of chipping on the forearm near the rear band (left side). Mechanically fine. The scope has cloudy optics.
