Description:

This is a nice example of an early WWII production G41 rifle manufactured by the Berlin-Lubecker manufacturing company in 1943. These early G41 series of rifles used the "Bang Gas-Trap" system which employed a barrel mounted "Gas Trap" muzzle cone to trap hot gas that was bleed off when the round was fired and which cycled the action. The system was time consuming and costly to produce and was eventually replaced with the standard G43 series of rifles. The left side of the rough milled receiver is marked "G/41/duv 43/Eagle 214 Waffenamt/ 5753h" and the opposite side of the receiver is marked with only a single Eagle firing proof. It has the milled bolt carrier with the bolt latch on the left side and the cocking knob on the right, with the machined action cover. The rifle is mounted with a laminated stock and black resin handguard with double Waffenamt Eagle 214 proof with a small Eagle proof in the pistol grip. It is complete with the sheet metal front sight cover.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 95% plus of it's original blued finish overall with wear and thinning on the edges and high spots overall, with the blue finish thinning and turning brown on the barrel bands, the front gas system and the action cover. The exposed magazine has lost most of it's blue finish and has turned a gray patina. The stock and handguard shows numerous light pressure dents, dings and gouges overall form actual filed use and the underside of the stock had had the large initials "VIN" carved in front of the buttplate. A very nice example of a early WWII G41 rifle.
