Description:

Manufactured in 1887. Blade front and buckhorn rear sights on a barrel marked with the two line address and "44 W.C.F." The patent date and the serial number are marked on the lower tang. Blued octagonal number 2 barrel with the remaining surfaces casehardened. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with ebony forearm insert and crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The shortened barrel has traces of blue with the balance, a mottled brown-gray patina with an area of original blue finish under the forearm. The remaining surfaces retain traces of original case colors with the balance a gray. Overall there is some minor spotting. The wood is poor with some minor dings and scratches. The forearm has a hairline crack and a couple pressure marks, and the cracked stock has been crudely repaired (a screw has been applied through the wrist).
