Description:

Flip-up blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the barrel marked "Old Reliable" in an octagonal panel next to "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN." on the top flat and "CALIBRE 45" near the breech. The number on the barrel is 156543 which is renumberd 45285 (receiver #C40851). The primer mechanism has been removed front the lock plate, which has the 1852 patent date and double set triggers, and a second Sharps patent marking on the reverse. The sling bar hole is plugged on the frame. Checkered straight grip stock, with a Schnabel tip forearm and a smooth steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good as assembled (see above), with 30% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed brown and gray patina concentrated along the high edges, minor spotting and handling marks overall. Traces of case color are visible, with most having faded to a mottled brown color. The stock is good with a chip absent from the right side of the wrist, pressure dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
