Description:

Extensive research from consignor indicates that this pistol was possibly the work of the great Spanish gunmaker Esquibel. This pistol was originally produced as a flintlock pistol in the late 18th Century and then received a percussion conversion modification circa 1820s-1840s. The barrel gauges at approximately .60 caliber. The top of the barrel at the breech has a brass inlaid running stag maker's proof and the number "2" is marked on the upper tang. There are no other markings. The buttcap, trigger guard, decorative engraved two-piece side plate, ramrod pipes and front blade sight are brass. The full length stock features a relief craved scroll pattern around the mounts and has a horn forend tip. Complete with a wooden ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel has a mottled brown patina with some minor spotting and pin point pitting which extend to the hammer. The lock plate has a smooth gray patina overall with traces of original case colors near the bolster. The brass has a mixed patina. The stock is good with a couple minor cracks and some minor handling marks along with a repaired chip and some missing chips near the buttcap. The ramrod is missing the tip.
