Description:

The top barrel flat is marked "REICHENBACH 5 LANCASTER, PA" and the lock plate has a floral scroll engraving behind the hammer. Fixed sights, with the part octagon rifled barrel gauging at approximately .54 caliber percussion. The ramrod pipes, trigger guard, side plate, and crescent buttplate are brass. Plain trigger and full length stock. The forearm has three silver fish shaped over lays on each side and the left side of the buttstock has two silver over lays (star burst, eagle/shield).

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle has a smooth dark patina with some light spotting. There is some minor flash pitting which extends to the lock plate. The brass has mostly a polished appearance. The stock has been repaired in the wrist areas, otherwise very good with some minor dings and scratches. The varnish on the right side of the forearm ahead of the lock plate has been removed to leave an inscription in paint under the removed varnish: "REICHENBACH, LANCASTER PA / 1800-1887".
