Description:

The lock plate and top barrel flat are marked "O. MUN". Blade and adjustable notch sights, with the octagon rifled barrel gauging at approximately .44 caliber percussion. The trigger guard, patch box, side plate, forend cap and ramrods are brass. Plain trigger and full length stock. The stock has skip-line type checkering on the wrist, an incised carved pattern on the left side of the buttstock with two silver over lays, a light engraved brass over lay on the underside of the forearm ahead of the trigger guard, and three barrel wedges. The barrel wedges have fish shaped escutcheons.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel has a mottled brown patina with some minor flash pitting and some light spotting. The hammer and lock plate retain 20% original blue finish with the balance a smooth dark patina. The brass has a polished appearance. The stock is very fine with a couple repairs on the forearm near the muzzle, a repaired chip near the lock plate, and a minor missing chip on the left flat, along with some minor handling. The checkering is crisp. Mechanically fine.
