Description:

The included Colt factory letter confirms the serial number, caliber, barrel length, blue finish, and the factory engraved "W.F. & Co." for Wells Fargo Company on the butt with the types of stocks not listed. The letter states that the revolver was shipped on October 31, 1906 in a shipment of 24 guns to Wells Fargo Company c/o W.M. Ashton, New York, New York, and "Mr. Ashton was in charge of the Supply Department for Wells Fargo from 1888 to 1910" provided under "Remarks". In addition to the Wells Fargo marking, the revolver has the standard Hartford address/1884-1895 patent dates marking on top of the barrel, "COLT D.A. 38" on the left barrel side, circled Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame and matching assembly number on frame, crane, and cylinder latch. Fitted with smooth walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver retains traces of original blue finish (mostly on the frame) with the balance a smooth gray patina with some minor pitting (more extensive on the cylinder). The grips are good with some minor dings and scratches with some minor pressure dents on the bottoms. The Wells Fargo marking is clear. Mechanically fine.
