Description:

Large police office ledger used as a scrapbook by Texas Deputy Sheriff Bob Martin. It contains numerous identification cards, original 1934 era newspaper clippings on noted criminals and murders in the 1934 era along with, caricatures, and photographs pertaining to Deputy Sheriff H.R. (Bob) Martin, who was a finger print expert. Identification cards include: Texaco charge account cards, Southern Pacific Lines train passes, The Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway System passes, Liberty County Texas Deputy Sheriff card, Boy Scouts of America Assistant Scoutmaster card, American Legion Membership card and Sheriff's Association of Texas member in good standing cards. There is also an identification card signed by Martin for a Sheriff L.V. (Lockhart) Hightower, who is also mentioned in some of the newspaper clippings. Included in the newspaper clippings are several articles about Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. The photographs include one of Martin with some of his guns. A small badge marked "TEXAS / RANGER" is also included.

Rating Definition:

Fair. Cover of book is partially burned and binding/spine is completely gone. Pages have discolored with age, however the internal news articles, and various identification cards are all in very good to excellent condition. Badge is fine with moderate discoloration overall. This would be an excellent display item with a set of Texas Colt Single Action Army pistols or law enforcement accoutrements.
