Description:

Engraved Remington Model 1875 Single Action Army Revolver with nickel plated finish. The revolver is fitted with two-piece ivory grips. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped: "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILLION. N.Y. U.S.A." in a single line. The serial number, "7629" is stamped on the left side of the frame underneath the grips next to the aforementioned number is the number "52" which is also stamped on the bottom of the barrel underneath the ejector housing. The number "45" is stamped on the rear face of the cylinder. This stands for 45 Long Colt Cartridge, which chambers perfectly. The butt has a factory lanyard loop. The revolver is decorated with very high quality Germanic scroll engraving on a punch-dot background with delicate zigzag borders on the back strap trigger guard and frame. The engraving is very similar to work executed by master engraver L.D. Nimschke and his shop. The engraving coverage is equal to Colt "2" or "B" engraving and covers all of the frame approximately 50% of the barrel, trigger guard and back strap and the cylinder between the flutes.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 70% of the original nickel plated finish. Most of the plating is present on the barrel, frame, grip straps and trigger guard. The finish on the barrel ejector web assembly and cylinder is absent of plating and the barrel web and cylinder have a silver gray patina. The barrel markings are sharp. The engraving is crisp and deep. The attractive yellow ivory grips are in fine condition and have shrunk slightly from age. There are several hairline age cracks in the grip heels. The grips do not fit the frame well and are probably not original to this revolver. This is a scarce example of a nickel-plated, engraved Remington Model 1875 Single Action revolver.
