Description:

Features a "C" marked rear sight graduated to 1500 yards with a "C" marked base numbered 1 through 8, a hooded blade front sight and a saddle ring bar with ring mounted to the left side of the stock. The casehardened low arch breechblock is marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1873". The barrel has the "V P eagle head P" on the left side. It has the correct carbine stock with single barrel band, "US" marked buttplate and a boxed "SWP / 1882" cartouche on the wrist (left side). The serial number is followed with the five-pointed star suffix.

Rating Definition:

Very good as arsenal refurbished. The carbine retains nearly 30% arsenal blue finish with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina with some scattered minor pitting. The breechblock and upper tang have a mottled brown patina with traces of original case colors remaining on the underside of the breechblock. The stock is very good with some minor dings and scratches, along with a long gouge on the buttstock (left side). The stock cartouche is clear. Mechanically fine.
