Description:

Blade front and Buffington rear sights, with the rear of the barrel at the breech marked with the letter "A" on the top and "V / P / eagle head / P" on the upper left. Low-arch breechblock marked "US / MODEL / 1884" and lock plate has the eagle/shield motif next to "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD". Smooth straight grip stock with two "U" marked barrel bands, sling swivels with stacking swivel, a circled script "P" stamped behind the trigger guard, and a clear script "SWP / 1888" stamped on the left flat. Complete with cleaning rod and a "US" marked blued socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The rifle retains 60% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The breechblock and upper tang retain 40% original case colors otherwise faded to a silver-gray. The stock is fine with the exception of a filled repair near the buttplate tang and a couple dents on the left side, along with some minor handling marks. The cartouche is faint, but legible. The bayonet retains 95% original blue finish.
