Also known as the Hotchkiss Magazine Gun, this was the first bolt action made by Winchester. Blade front and ramp tangent rear sights, with the left side of the receiver marked with the three line address and patent markings ahead of the serial number. Installed on the right side is the magazine cutoff. Smooth straight grip stock, with two "U" marked barrel bands, cleaning rod, sling swivels, and a blue steel buttplate.

Excellent plus, with 98% of the original blue finish, showing a ding on the rear edge of the receiver ring and some scattered light handling marks and spotting. Trigger guard retains 95% plus of the correct dark blue / black finish. Stock is excellent, with a few hairline cracks visible near the forearm tip, along with some mild pressure dents. Barrel bands retain 97% of the bright original blue. Mechanically excellent. A truly exceptional Winchester Hotchkiss Rifle.
