Description:

Colt Model 1900 Semi-Automatic pistol manufactured in 1902. This very desirable early production pistol has the combination rear sight/safety, grip serrations on the rear of the slide, spur hammer and two-piece varnished walnut grips. The pistol has the high polish Colt commercial blue finish with niter blue trigger and screws. The rear sight and hammer have a color casehardened finish. The seven-shot magazine has a nickel-plated finish. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped: "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBER 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped: ""BROWNING'S PATENT"/PAT'D APRIL 20, 1897" in a two line block followed by "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO./HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A." in two lines. The encircled Rampant Colt trademark is stamped on the left side of the slide behind the serrations. The serial number, "1958" is stamped on the right side of the frame above the trigger guard. The bottom of the magazine floor plate is marked: "PAT'D SEPT.9.1884". The Model 1900 Semi-Automatic pistol is a extremely rare firearm. It is the first semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Colt and the first of John M. Browning's successful semi-automatic pistol designs. Pistols with the early sight safety are especially scarce.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 97% of the bright original high polish blue finish. The blue finish is thin on the back strap and there is minor edge wear on the muzzle and top of the slide. Nearly all of the niter blue finish is present on the trigger and screws. The rear sight and hammer have 98% of the original vivid case colors. The magazine has 95% or more of the nickel plated finish. The grips are in excellent condition with nearly all of the original varnish. This is an exceptional example of a scarce and important Colt Model 1900 Sight Safety Semi-Automatic Pistol.
