Description:

This is a very fine example of a very scarce and desirable, 1906 DWM Dutch contract Luger Pistol. These were specifically manufactured under military contract for the Netherlands prior to WWI and saw heavy use through the end of WWII, with most of them that you see well worn and heavily pitted. There were only 4000 produced in total under this contract and they can be easily identified by several features, most notably the safety area is marked "RUST" instead of Geischert, there are no German proofmarks and they all carry a small Crown over "W" for Queen Wilimena on the right side of the barrel extension. These pistols have a rust blue finish with straw colored small parts and coarse checkered walnut grips. The pistol has a Dutch colonial type magazine with nickel plated body and wooden base. A rectangular brass unit identification plate is attached to the left side of the frame that is marked "2-MOL/12" and the rear of the frame is stamped "AD/34". The top of the chamber is blank and it has the standard "DWM" markings on the front toggle. There are NO German proofmarks and as noted the right side of the barrel extension has the small "Crown/W" proof. The safety lever area of the frame is marked "RUST" with a curved arrow pointing toward the upward (safe) position. "GELADEN" is marked on both sides of the extractor. The full serial number "1121" is located on the front of the frame and the underside of the barrel. The partial serial number "21" is stamped on the various small parts and the top of the barrel is dated 1935 indicating the year of refurbishment by the Dutch Government.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 80% Arsenal finish overall with the grip straps having browned out. The small parts retain 25% of their straw color on the small parts. The coarse checkered grips are also in excellent condition with some minor wear across the tops of the checkering with only minor nicks in a couple of places. The right grip has been refreshened slightly in the middle, but doesn't distract from the overall appearance of the pistol. The pistol has all matching numbers except the wood base magazine. A very scarce "Dutch" military contract Luger in very fine condition.
