Measuring 28" tall and 45" long this is an example of a Reichsfuhrer-SS (RFSS) command flag. The flag is black linen with a pair of white lightning bolt runes on each side. The hoist side of the flag is white linen and stamped "SS FL / 1943" and "RFSS" on both sides. As highest ranking officer of the SS, the Reichsfuhrer-SS position in effect held several roles, and wielded an enormous amount of personal power. Responsibilities included all internal security within the Third Reich, commander of the military force of the Waffen-SS which grew from three regiments to over 38 divisions, and served alongside the Wehrmacht Heer, but was never formally part of it. Further, the Reichsfuhrer-SS was overseer of the concentration camps and extermination camps. Dated 1943 this flag was flown when the RFSS was Heinrich Himmler, one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany as well as one of the persons most directly responsible for the Holocaust.

Very fine. There is some minor fraying on the hoist side and some staining on the white linen. Overall a solid representation of a Nazi Reichsfuhrer-SS command flag.
