Description:

This is an excellent 1917 dated DWM Artillery Luger with a 1917 date Artillery holster, a matching stock. The pistol has the original rust blued finish with straw colored small components, with finely checkered walnut grips. The pistol has the early "fine tuned" rear sight only. The top of the chamber is dated "1917" and the front toggle link is marked with the script "DWM" monogram. The right side of the receiver is stamped with three "crown/letter" proofs with the Larger Imperial Eagle acceptance. An Imperial eagle proof is stamped on the right side of the barrel. It is fitted with the standard front sight with the standard artillery tangent rear sight marked from 1-8 (100-800) meters and also has the additional and desirable fine tune feature. The front of the frame and left side of the barrel extension have the full serial number with letter suffix (1750h) and the various small parts are correctly stamped with the last two digits of the serial number. All of the serial numbers match, except for the magazine which has an unmarked wooden base. The holster is black leather that is marked inside the flap "J.G.RAUM/NURNBERG/1917" and is fitted with an original matching walnut flat board artillery stock with a matching attaching iron correctly numbered on top "1750h". The stock is fitted with a brown leather flap closure and brown leather stock boot with strap, (the shoulder straps are missing). A cleaning rod and take down tool is included.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% of the original blued finish with minor edge and high spot wear overall with minor blue loss on the muzzle area, side plate hump and front edges of the frame, with 85% of the original straw colors on the small parts. The grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering overall. The holster is in fine condition with nice tight stitching clear sharp markings and only minor scuffs or wear on the surface of the leather. The stock is in very good condition with an old dark brown color with minor handling marks and light pressure dents from field use. As noted the luger has matching numbers on all the parts except the magazine including the board stock. A very nice all original luger rig.
