Description:

This is a top condition example of a pre-WWII Mauser K98 style single shot rifle. These single shot rifles were commonly called a "Wehrsportgewehr" or a" Serviceman's Rifle" and were produced in the 1920s. The Serviceman's Rifle was intended to be the standard service target rifle and fired a 8.15mm X 46r lead bullet. These rifles were manufactured sporting a single shot (solid bottom) and solid receiver side wall, K98 style receiver and military style tangent rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation and is equipped with a large dish adjustable peep sight mounted under the receiver tang. The top of the receiver is marked with a large Mauser Banner logo, left side has Crown over B, U, N and G proofs, and the side wall is marked "MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A/N". The left rear side of the barrel is marked with the serial number and "8,15X46". All barrel and receiver markings are highlighted in white. The rifle has a full length military style stock with finger grooves, hand guard, a turned down bolt handle marked with partial serial number "5831" and crown over B and U proofs and a flat buttplate. All full and partial serial numbers match.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus overall. The rifle retains 99% of the bright original high polish finish remaining with wear limited to the muzzle and bolt. The stock is very good with overall scattered minor dings, dents and scratches.
