The top of the receiver ring is marked with a Waffenamt proof over "dou / 44", and the left side receiver wall is marked "Mod 98". The serial number is marked on the left rear of the barrel with a Nazi firing proof and "FK dou" and two Nazi proofs at the breech end. Matching bolt, front barrel band and floor plate, mis-matched safety lever with remaining parts un-numbered. Stamped parts with welded barrel bands, hooded blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and mounted with an unmarked one piece pistol grip laminated stock with matching handguard and cupped buttplate.

Very good. The rifle retains 70% original thinning blue finish with smooth gray patina on the barrel and overall high edge wear. The buttplate has a smooth silver gray patina with scattered discoloration. The stock is also very good with some overall scattered minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.

Post-war French rework, receiver markings have been removed, with only the serial number on the left front side of the receiver, "8MM" on the left side of the barrel at the muzzle, mis-matched numbers on various parts (bolt matches) and a remarked "K98" on the receiver wall. All milled parts, blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters and mounted with a pistol grip stock, with French sling bar on the left side.

Refinished with 97% blue finish remaining with thinning on the bolt handle and wear on the bolt and extractor. The stock is very good plus with some scattered minor dings and scratches. The action is excellent.
