This is an excellent example of an all matching, original Winchester M1 carbine manufactured in 1944, in the 3rd serial number range assigned to Winchester, (5549822 to 5834618). The carbine features the flip up rear sight, flat blue finished bolt, early op-rod, 2nd type barrel band without the bayonet lug, low wood stock and two rivet handguard. Standard forward and rear receiver markings, "W" marked barrel, " "EW" " marked push button safety and 15 round blue magazine with a circled "IW" marked on the spine. The trigger guard is milled and marked with the letter "M" ahead of the bow. The right side of the stock is marked with the crossed cannon cartouche followed by "W.R.A./ G.H.D.", oval oiler cut with correctly "IW" marked oiler and a checkered steel buttplate. Complete with an original green canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The carbine retains 98% plus original gray/green parkerized finish with a few minor scratches on the barrel and some minor wear on the receiver from normal action cycling. The bolt retains 98% original blue and again wear is from normal cycling and very limited. The magazine retains 95% original blue with some minor scratches. The stock and handguard are also excellent with some scattered minor dents and scratches and sharp cartouches. The receiver markings are crisp and clear. The sling and mechanics are excellent. An exceptional, totally original U.S. WWII Winchester M1 Carbine.
