Description:

This is an excellent example of a late 1942 production Colt Model 1911A1 pistol. The mis-matching slide, (810572) is the mid-war pattern that is marked on the left side with the two line, two block Colt patent / address markings along with the Rampant Colt in the middle of the markings with the "P" proof on top of the slide in front of the rear sight. The right side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number, and the front end is marked "M1911A1 US ARMY". The left side of the frame is stamped a boxed "WB" just below the slide stop with a "P" proof next to the magazine catch. The left front of the trigger guard bow is marked with an "F" over the triangle "VP" proof and the right side is marked with two double stamped "88". It has the earlier wide Colt hammer, checkered arched mainspring housing, slide stop and thumb safety. The grips are the 1911 style checkered walnut with the diamond around the screw. The barrel is blue marked with the letter "G" ahead of the lug and "COLT 45 AUTO" to the left of the lug. The magazine is two tone with a lanyard loop on the bottom. Complete with a brown leather "US" embossed swivel flap holster dated 1915 and a tan canvas two magazine pouch, marked "AUG. / RUSSELL (in an oval) / 1919" on the back with two magazines.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished. The pistol retains 85% arsenal (more so on the front strap and front portion of the frame) parkerized finish. There is high edge wear on the slide and a few minor scratches and scuffs. The grips are fair with some heavy wear, and scattered minor dings and dents. A good portion of the checkering does remain crisp. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is good with some moderate to heavy wear and flexing. The belt loop is heavily worn and tearing. The magazine pouch is very good. The two extra magazines are good with some minor oxidation.
