Description:

Produced circa 1942-1954 by General Motors, Guide Lamp Division, the "Flare Projector, Caliber 45" was a single shot smoothbore pistol, designed to be a low cost weapon that could be airdropped in quantity in occupied territories and used by the locals to eliminate a better-equipped occupier and steal his gear. Though equipped with fixed sights, the most effective and reliable way to aim was to place the muzzle directly against the target's head or chest before pulling the trigger. This is a two hole model that was made from sheet metal stampings that were spot welded together around the smooth bore barrel, and fitted with a cast zinc cocking knob with integral guide pin. "2639" is marked on top of the barrel, likely a later addition. The grip is hollow to store additional rounds, and fitted with a sliding cover.

Rating Definition:

Very good, showing some light handling marks and spotting overall. Some grinding marks are present on the barrel, most likely from the production process. Some light scuffs are visible on the cocking knob from contact with the receiver. Grip cover slightly undersized. Mechanically excellent.
