Clip point blade, 9" long with an unsharpened clip and "N. YORK" on the left side of the blade. Oval steel crossguard, 2 4/5" long and .1/8" thick, with a brass collar and a darkened bone grip hand carved "JED 1843/ KANESVILLE IOWA" on the left side. Kanesville, renamed Council Bluffs in 1852, was a major gateway for western expansion and the eastern terminus for the Transcontinental Railroad.

Fair. Pitting is present on the blade and guard, along with some dents on the spine. The grip is good, with a chip absent and evidence of an epoxy repair on the left side, and fine grain.
