Description:

Manufactured in 1861, the second year of production. This revolver is one of only about 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers manufactured with the fluted cylinder. These revolvers appear intermittently in the first 8,000 serial numbers and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields cut for an attachable shoulder stock. Brass trigger guard and iron back strap. The grips are smooth one piece walnut. The top of the barrel is marked "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-", "COLT'S / PATENT" is stamped on left side of the frame and the 1850 patent date is marked in one of the cylinder flutes. Matching numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, arbor pin and cylinder with mismatched wedge (5790). Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, and fitted with one piece smooth walnut grip. Complete with a partitioned case lined with green canvas. The inside of the lid has a Colt's loading directions paper label. Includes the following accessories: Colt's patent powder flak with military motif, Colt's patent two cavity bullet mold, two cap tins, and package of 6 combustible envelop cartridges for the Model 1860 revolver.

Rating Definition:

Refinished. The revolver has a smooth artificial brown patina with some scattered minor pitting. The trigger guard retains 70% original silver plating. The undersized revarnished grip is fair with a series of minor pressure dents on the bottom and a few gouges (right side), along with some bottom edge chipping on the right side. The custom case is good with the lid having a few cracks and a few gouges, along with a few minor scratches. Much of there production label remains. The old re-lining shows minor wear.
