Description:

Factory converted Colt Model 1861 percussion revolver to be used with rimfire cartridges made, in most cases, using new parts. Loading lever removed and barrel lug plugged with attached ejector rod and added breech plate with loading gated. Two rivets attach the rimfire firing pin to the hammer. One line New York barrel address, "COLTS / PATENT" on left side of frame, "36 CAL" on left trigger guard shoulder, and Texas Navy scene on cylinder. Matching numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Fitted with a one piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas, otherwise a smooth brown patina with a smooth gray patina on the frame. There are a few areas of minor pitting. Most of the cylinder scene remains. Traces of original silvered out plating remain in the protected areas of the back strap found at the top and strong amounts of silvered out plating on the trigger guard, with the exposed brass having a polished appearance. The grip is also very good with a series of minor pressure dents on the bottom and a few minor handling marks overall. Mechanically fine. A very nice example of a Colt 1861 Navy conversion!
