Manufactered in 1860. Two line Hartford barrel address, COLTS / PATENT" on left side of frame, "M" on left trigger guard shoulder, and stagecoach holdup cylinder scene. Matching numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap (double stamped), loading lever, and cylinder, with unmarked wedge. Fitted with a varnished one piece grip.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver has a mottled gray patina with some very scattered minor pitting. Most of the cylinder scene remains. Traces of original silver plating remain around the trigger guard, otherwise the brass has a smooth untouched aged patina. The grip is excellent with most of the varnish remaining and some minor handling marks. The action needs work, but does function.

Catalog Page: 264
Class: Antique
Description:

Manufactured in 1863. One line New York address, "COLTS / PATENT" on left side of the frame, "36 CAL" on left trigger guard shoulder, and 1850 patent date on cylinder. Matching numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, and wedge. Fitted with a one piece varnished grip. Colt manufactured approximately 19,000 of these revolvers and a great many were used for metallic conversion, making them scarce today.

Rating Definition:

Refinished. The metal surfaces have an artificial dark mottled patina with some scattered pin point pitting. The brass retain moderate amounts of silvered out plating around the trigger guard. The butt has a series of minor uniformed scratches. The re-varnished grip has some minor handling marks, a few minor pressure marks on the butt and bottom edge wear. Mechanically fine. Previously from the William Hoffeld Collection.
