This is a beautiful example of a factory engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver with an unusual special order 4 inch barrel. The revolver features almost full coverage of floral scroll and punch dot engraving covering the barrel, outer edge of the ejector housing, frame, cylinder flats, trigger guard, hammer sides and back strap. The sides of the top strap, outer edges and shoulders of the trigger guard and upper edge of the ejector housing have a feather design, there is a star burst on top of the back strap and frame above the screws and geometric designs on the top of the back strap below the screws. The front sight blade is thicker than normally found on these revolvers and the sides are decorated with floral scroll and geometric designs. The top of the barrel is marked with the short two line address in a banner, the left side is marked "44-40" in a panel and the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent dates. The left upper front of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proof and "O" on the rear. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the front and back straps under the grip. The revolver is fitted with a smooth one piece ivory grip, red ink marked "HAND MADE BY / DC".

Near new with only the slightest handling/storage marks and faint traces of an intermittent drag line on the cylinder. The grips are as new.
