This is an excellent example of a late WWII Nazi P38 pistol that war manufactured by the Mauser company. The left side of the slide is marked with "P.38" followed by "byf/44" which was the wartime code for the Mauser factory. The serial number is marked just ahead of the safety lever. The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number followed by the "Eagle/ WaA135" proof The right side of the slide is marked single eagle firing proof flanked by "eagle /WaA135" acceptance proofs. The locking block is marked "66e / d" on the bottom and has the firing proof on the left side and the "eagle/WaA135" proof on the right side. The left side of the barrel lug has the same eagle acceptance proof, with the matching serial number on the front. The pistol has the dual tone finish which consists of blue barrel, rear sight and thumb safety, and arsenal gray on the balance. Standard fixed sights, (front blade painted white), and fitted with black bakelite serrated grips with a lanyard loop on the left heel. The magazine is blue and marked "P38/U" on the lower left side with eagle proof on the spine. Complete with a black leather flap hardshell holster marked "ewx / 1944 / eagle/WaA195" and "P.38" on the back.

Excellent. The barrel retains 99% original blue finish with some thinning on the front sight band and the thumb safety is thinning and has an area of smooth gray. The remaining metal surfaces retain 97% original gray phosphate finish with some mild edge wear and thinning on the front strap. The grips are also excellent with a number of minor scratches on the upper left side and a few minor dings overall. The markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very fine with some mild flexing on the flap and tight stitching.
