Description:

1) Wilkinson sword, 32 1/4 inch double fuller blade with etched scrollwork around the Pall Mall address on the left ricasso, "11578" on the spine, a gold proof stamp in a 6-pointed star on the right ricasso, and the motto "VIRTUTE ET LABORE" (by virtue and exertion) on the right. Basket guard with cut-through circle and heart designs, with a red and white cloth inner lining, round pommel nut and a wire wrapped sharkskin grip. With a black leather sheath. 2) Unmarked double fuller blade, 39 3/4 inches long with a 18 1/2 inch false edge and a flat spine. Hilt design is similar to #1 minus the lining.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with a mixed bright gray patina and mild spotting on the blade. The tip is slightly rounded. A brown patina is present on the guard, with minor spotting and handling marks, along with a few spots and holes in the lining. Grip is good, with some loose wire and lost skin at the bottom. Sheath is fair, with a fold below the suspension band and a few minor tears and scuffs. 2) Blade is fine, with a mixed gray patina, light spotting, minor chips on the edge and a small crack visible on the left ricasso. A dark aged patina is showing on the guard, with loose wire on the grip.
