Description:

This is an example of a WWII fully automatic Reising Model 50 submachine gun that was manufactured by the Harrington & Richardson company. These H&R Reising SMGs were initially issued to the USMC units early in WWII and were made in two configurations; one with a fixed wooden stock and the other with a folding wire stock. These were considered a substitute standard SMG during the early stages of WWII with the Thomson submachine gun being the primary weapon of choice. Both were eventually replaced by the cheaper and easier to manufacture M3 and M3A1 submachine guns in late WWII. They function in a blow-back operated model and this model is cocked by retracting the cocking handle located in the cut out recess on the underside of the forend. The top of the receiver is marked "MODEL 50 H&R REISING --- CAL 45/HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO./WORCHESTER MASS.U.S.A. PAT PENDING". Directly below the rear sight it marked "SAFE/SA/FA", for safe, semi-automatic and full automatic. They feature a short, finned barrel similar to the Thompson SMG, (to aid in cooling) with a integral compensator/muzzle break on the end. They have a fixed front sight with a stamped sheet metal rear sight that is adjustable for elevation only. They have a pistol grip walnut stock with a flat sheet metal butt plate on the end with parkerized finish on all the metal parts. It is complete with one original, H&R marked, 20 round magazine that has the dished in sides. As noted, this is a fully functional fully automatic submachine gun that is currently listed on the ATF Form 4, that carries the appropriate ATF transfer tax stamp, so check your local laws to make sure you can legally own this weapon.

Rating Definition:

Arsenal refurbished with 99% of a dark gray-green parkerized finish overall. The bolt still retains its "in the white" finish. The walnut stock is in very fine condition, with only a couple of minor handling marks on the butt stock. The only thing that keeps the stock from being like new are some small dimpling marks on the left side of the stock above the trigger guard.
