This excellent original U.S. Model 1911 Automatic Pistol was manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1915. This is one of 25,767 M1911 pistols manufactured by the Springfield Armory between 1913 and 1915. The pistol has the distinctive dull blue finish utilized by Springfield Armory, coarse checkered walnut grips with large diamond panels and the Springfield, two tone, lanyard loop magazine with flanges that fold over the magazine base. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Springfield Armory Eagle and Shield motif behind the ejection port and "MODEL OF 1911.U.S. ARMY" ahead of it. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the 1897-1911patent dates above: "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO." in three lines followed by "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/U.S.A." in two lines. The Ordnance 'Shell and Flame' insignia is roll-stamped on the left side of the slide behind the grip serrations. The serial number, "No83111" is stamped on the right side of the receiver behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the receiver is roll-stamped: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" ahead of the trigger guard bow and stamped with the 'Shell and Flame" final inspection mark above the magazine release. The barrel has a dull blue finish and is properly stamped with the Springfield "S" mark on the left side of the lug.
