Description:

This is an example of a Remington UMC contract model 1911 Pistol manufactured in 1912. The pistol was one of 500 shipped to the Springfield Armory on September 11, 1912. The right side of the slide has the early, two-line marking "MODEL OF 1911 / U.S. ARMY CALIBER 45" ahead of the ejection port. The left side of the slide has the two block, three line 1905-1913 patent dates and "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO." , "REMINGTON / UMC" in a circle and "MANUFACTURED BY / REMINGTON ARMS UMC CO INC. / BRIDGEPORT, CONN. U.S.A.". The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number behind the slide stop hole. An "E" is stamped at the rear of the slide above the firing pin stop. The left side of the frame has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" stamped ahead of the trigger guard. The Ordnance inspectors initials "E.E.C" for Major Edmund E. Chapman are stamped on the left side of the frame below the slide stop over an eagle head inspection mark and the front upper left side of the trigger guard and mainspring housing are marked with the letter "E". The barrel is marked with the letter "P" ahead of the lug. Smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, slide stop, thumb safety and wide hammer spur, lanyard loop on the frame heel, blue Colt marked magazine and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Rating Definition:

Professionally restored, with virtually all of the blue finish remaining, showing only slight handling marks. The grips are as new. The markings are highlighted in white and remain clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
