Typically this plate would be affixed to the breech of a barrel housing and would house the spirit level. The spirit lever was used when sighting the gun. The plate measures 3 5/8 inches in diameter and the entire edge is engraved. There is an oval hole in the center of the plate were the spirit lever would rest with two holes above seven below. On either side of the oval hole are engraved flourishes. In block letters "GATLING GUN / PATENTED" and on top and bottom of the plate are larger screw holes on the outside edge.

Excellent condition. This would upgrade a $75,000.00 gun to a $125,000.00 gun.
