Manufactured circa 1954 and later custom engraved by Arnold Griebel. The receiver has been finished with a satin grey and features floral scroll designs as well as a very nicely detailed covered wagon in a mountain scene on the left side. The left side also features a gold inlaid silhouette of an Indians head in a circle and the right front of the receiver has a gold inlaid buffalo in a mountain scene. The bottom of the receiver is engraved "ENGR. BY A. GRIEBEL" and the serial number is in a panel. The sides and bottom front of the lever are engraved with the same floral scroll designs and there is a geometric design on the lever portion. The breech end of the barrel has 3 inch wedge of floral scroll engraving and the forend cap has floral scroll engraving around the screws and the sling stud hole, (stud absent). The sides of the hammer have a light floral scroll border. Standard left side left barrel markings, ramped blade front sight, (hood absent) and a filler block in the rear sight dove tail and gold plated trigger. Mounted with a nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap and steel shotgun buttplate with compartment.

Professionally refinished and embellished with nearly all of the blue and satin grey finishes remaining. There is a thin coat of dried oil residue on the receiver. The wood is near mint. With the exception of a few minor scratches on the left rear of the forearm and a small flaw on the stock, there is only light overall handling marks. All of the gold inlay remains. The markings and engraving are clear and crisp. The action is excellent. A very attractive custom engraved and gold inlaid Winchester Model 71 rifle.
