Second Model manufactured in 1879 with the scarce 4 inch barrel and loading gate. Two line Hartford address on top of the barrel, patent date on the barrel underside, and caliber etched marking on the left side ("COLT NEW 38"). Left side of frame is stamped "38 CAL C". Matching numbers on frame, barrel, and cylinder with the assembly number "124" on loading gate. Fitted with smooth bird head grips.

Very good. The revolver retains 30% original nickel finish with the balance a mottled gray patina with some minor pitting. The etched panel is legible. The grips are very good with much of the varnish remaining, high edge wear and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
