A) Scarce Eagle Arms Co. Patent Front Loading Cartridge Pocket Revolver

Description:

Manufactured by Eagle Manufacturing Company of New York and sold through Plant's Manufacturing Company of New Haven in the mid 1860s. The top of the barrel rib is marked "EAGLE ARMS CO. NEW YORK" and the cylinder is marked "PATENTED JULY 12, 1859 & JULY 21, 1863". The grips are numbered to the gun. The butt has the serial number along with "APC".

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The frame retains 25% original silver plating with the exposed brass having an untouched aged patina. The grips are very fine with most of the varnish remaining and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.

Description:

Manufactured in 1881. Top of barrel has the two line Hartford address, September 1874 patent date on the barrel underside, "COLT NEW 38" etched on the left barrel side, and "38 CAL" on left side of frame. Fitted with hard rubber checkered grips with "COLT" in an oval at the top numbered to gun.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 50% original nickel finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. There is some mild pitting. The etched panel is legible. The grips are excellent with some scattered minor handling marks. Overall the checkering remains crisp. Mechanically fine.
