Description:

Measuring 22" wide and 15" tall, this framed display contains two items. On the left is a black and white picture of General Patton in uniform, 4-Star rank displayed prominently on his helmet, 7 1/8" wide and 9" tall. On the right is a letter, similar dimensions, on letterhead for the Office of the Commanding officer of Fort Myer, Virginia, dated 3 May 1939, addressed to a Laurence Wilson, Vice President of the Fries, Beall and Sharp Company, from a then-Colonel George Patton, thanking him for a prior letter and informing him that a skeet competition would begin in the next week. Appointed as commander of Fort Myer in the 1930's, Patton would be moved to take command of the 2nd Armored Brigade barely more than a year after this letter was sent. On the back of the frame is a photocopy of another letter from Patton, this one on Third United States Army letterhead, dated 6 March 1945 and addressed from then-Lieutenant General Patton to Major R.T. Shelby of the 90th Division.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with light wear on the frame. Both items within are excellent, with a few crease lines on the letter. The most famous U.S. General of WWII.
