Introduced in 1930 and discontinued in 1933, sales of the Model 29 were undermined by the Great Depression, making this a rare item in any state, let alone featuring the hand fitting and master engraving of the Remington Custom Shop. Single bead sight on the matte rib, with cylinder choke, Remington trademark on the operating rod and the three line address, model and patent markings on the left side of the barrel. Fine scroll engraving is visible at the breech, running up along the sides and forming a banner around the markings, with additional scrollwork on the operating rod and a wavy zig-zag border encircling the takedown hardware, flanked by scrolls. Bottom ejecting receiver, with scroll engraving, a small checkerboard pattern ahead of the trigger guard, a scene of a pointer in the woods on the left side and a hunting dog on a lakeshore on the right, along with hand engraved model markings and serial number on the underside. High grade walnut stock, with checkering on the forearm and pistol grip, Remington grip cap with Fleur-de-Lis designs, 14 1/2" pull and a Kick-Eez recoil pad.

Excellent, showing 98% of the current Factory quality blue, with mild handling marks overall. A small amount of shallow pitting is visible on the receiver, concentrated on the left side. The engraving is master grade, with attractive intertwining patterns in the scroll designs and superb depth and detail in the scenes. Superb wood, with highly attractive grain, particularly on the butt. Mechanically excellent, with a smoothness of operation more like a modern top-end sporting arm than a historical treasure. A fine example of a scarce Remington offering from the James Tipton Collection.
