A product of the Remington Custom Shop, the "D", or "Tournament", grade was meant with the serious competitor or sportsman in mind, featuring a subtler engraving pattern than the Expert and Premier grades, but benefitting from the precision hand fitting that the master gunsmiths of the Custom Shop were capable of. Single nickel bead sight on the vent rib, with the patent dates, address, "20 GA for 2 3/4" or shorter shells" and "SKEET CHOKE" on the left side of the barrel along with 2" wedges of scroll engraving at the breech. Hand engraved model markings and serial number on the receiver, with scroll and zig-zag line engraving on the receiver and trigger guard, and "MODEL 11" on the bolt. Fitted with a select walnut stock, featuring sharp checkering on the forearm and pistol grip, Remington grip cap with Fleur de Lis designs, 14" pull and a ribbed Remington buttplate.

Near new, with only a few tiny light handling marks overall. Very fine engraving and sharp checkering, along with an attractive grain pattern in the incredibly beautiful wood. This may have been a step down from the Expert and Premier Grade, however this example defies logic as it is simply wonderful. An excellent piece from the James Tipton Collection.
