Description:

Extremely rare salt glaze twelve gallon stamped in cobalt blue "B.T. Stoffer & Co./ 12/ Lowell, ILL". Lowell Pottery was in business circa 1880s. This hand turned crock features a salt glaze exterior and a brown Albany slip glaze interior with two ribs that run around the piece near the applied handles.

Rating Definition:

The piece has had extensive professional restoration to the overall back of the piece. Still, a solid representative example of a rare Illinois maker!
