Description:

These were reworked after WWI for the Weimar government, in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles. They have the dual dates of 1920 which indicates that it conformed to the Versailles treaty along with the original year of its manufacture. The top of the chamber for this specific model is marked "1920/1917" and the front toggle is marked "DWM" for Deutsche Waffen und Munitions the original manufacturer. The right side of the barrel extension has the three "crown over gothic letter" proofs along with a "Crown N" commercial proofmark that is also stamped on the top of the barrel, the breechblock and toggle assembly. This indicates that this specific luger was reworked after WWI into a commercial luger and then reworked again back into a police model. During the rework process the typical police sear bar was added on top of the side plate. The front of the frame and the underside of the barrel both have the military style four digit serial number with the letter suffix. The safety area and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". The grips are checkered walnut, and complete with a late Schmeisser marked police magazine with the matching base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished overall with 95% of the blue finish remaining with minor edge wear overall. The various small parts retain traces of their straw colors. The grips are in fine condition showing even honest wear across the top of all the checkered surfaces. Mechanically fine with weak hold open device. This specific Luger has all matching renumbered parts to include the Haenel Schmeisser magazine.
