Description:

1) Shin-Gunto sword, 25 3/4" long blade with a jagged hamon and silver washed copper habaki. Military pattern tsuba, with a set of brass and silver seppa on each side and spring loaded retention clip. Martial tsuka, with brown cord wrap, and brown painted martial saya. The tang is signed, with 7 symbols on the right and 8 on the left 2) Sword, 26" blade with a wavy hamon and a brass habaki. Gold washed martial tsuba and martial tsuka with green cord wrap. Wooden saya, with slip-on leather cover. The tang is signed, with 5 symbols on the left side.

Rating Definition:

1) Fine. A few chips are visible on the edge, with polishing marks and mild spotting on the blade. Fittings are slightly loose, with some staining of the wrap. 60% of the original paint remains on the saya, exposing a dull gray metal patina. 2) Good. A strong temper line is present on the blade, with spotting, handling marks and an unknown black residue. Fittings are loose, with the fuchi absent, an undersized wrap and the mekugi replaced with a metal screw. Saya is fine, with mild scuffs and cracking of the leather.
