Description:

This is an excellent example of an original, unaltered WWI German 1914 pattern Luger as used by all German forces. These DWM pistols exhibited the best fit and finish of the WWI pistols and have an all rust blued finish with straw colored small parts. The top of the chamber area is dated 1915 for the year of manufacture with the front toggle marked "DWM". The right side of the barrel extension has the three "crown/ gothic letter" proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof. The Imperial Eagle proof is also marked on the top, rear section of the barrel, left side of the breechblock and right side of the barrel extension. The upper safety position and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". It is fitted with the standard checkered walnut grips, and it has fixed sights, with the stock lug on the back strap. It is complete with an unmarked, blued magazine with a wooden base that has been numbered "9777d/+".

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% of the original blued finish remaining overall only minor wear on the edges and high spots, such as the front of the frame rails, the left side of the front sight base, with both grip straps having browned out. The various small parts retain approximately 25% of their straw colors. The grips are also in very fine condition overall, nice distinct checkering showing just a hint of wear across the tops of the checkering with no crack or damage anywhere. This Luger has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above.
