Description:

This is an example of an early post WWI German Luger that was reworked for the Weimar Police. These Lugers have the all rust blued finish with straw colored small parts with the checkered walnut grips. This example has the early eagle 6 Simson proofs on the barrel along with the Simson "PTV"/eagle (Technical Police) proof as applied in the mid 1920s on DWM lugers only. The top of the chamber area is marked "1920/ 1918" indicating it was marked as conforming to the Versailles Treaty along with the year of the actual manufacture. The front toggle has the "DWM" monogram and the right side of the barrel extension is marked with three "crown/ gothic letter" proofs, with Imperial Eagle firing proofs on the extension, barrel and breechblock and it is correctly fitted with a partial police sear safety on top of the side plate. Complete with one nickel plated magazine with the unmarked wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% plus of the Arsenal refurbished blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots, with some blue loss on the frame rails, side plate hump and muzzle and some thinning and browning on the grip straps. The various small parts retain 25% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in fine condition with nice distinct checkering overall with light wear across the tops of the checkering. Luger has all matching numbers, except the grips and wooden base on the magazine, both of which are unnumbered. Mechanically excellent. A very nice example of an early Weimar Police rework Luger.
